Bio
Verl Marie Weger, 72, of Bloomington, passed away at 4:50 a.m. Monday (Dec. 19, 2016) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Downs. Memorial donations may be made to Community Cancer Center, Normal. Verl was born Nov. 3, 1944, in Bloomington, a daughter of Edward and Edith Schaefer Hamblin. She is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Tim) Gardner, Heyworth, and Karen Rouse, Bloomington; two sons, Chuck (Marcia) Barekman, Atlanta, and Michael (Sharon) Barekman, Sumter, S.C.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda (Jim) Edwards and Ruth Harrison, both of Bloomington; and two brothers, Gordon Hamblin and John (Shirley) Hamblin, both of LeRoy. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gerri Bayne and Patricia Swearingen The family would like to give a special thank-you to fifth-floor Advocate BroMenn and the Community Cancer clinic for all their care and devotion to Verl. Verl was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
