Martha Jean Gerik, age 65, of Reedley, California, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 in Reedley. A Rosary will be recited and Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, with Rev. Joe Keating as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott, Texas. Martha was born January 22, 1951 in Monterey, CA. She was a graduate of Salinas High School. On April 1, 1988 she was united in marriage to Jimmy Gerik in Reno, NV. Martha was a Registered Seed Technologist and worked for several companies in California, including the University of California, until she retired. She was a master gardener of Fresno County California. Martha enjoyed canning, traveling, listening to music and making jams and spaghetti sauces. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and an auxiliary member of the American Legion. Survivors include her beloved husband of 28 years, Jimmy Gerik of Reedley, CA; a son, Brian Rothstein of Newport Beach, CA; sisters, Sally Nakasawa, Ann Drake, Laura Anderson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
