Bio

DEATH OF JAMES HAKEL--After a severe illness, lasting several weeks, James Hakel, of this place passed away at the St Elizabeth hospital in Lincoln on Saturday, March 8th. His death was caused from a complication of diseases and although he received the very best of medical treatment death came at the age of 26 years 10 months. James had returned from the army about three months ago and while looking rugged was not in the best of health. He was made a 2nd Lieutenant while in the service and was a model young man. The body was brought to Valparaiso Monday and the funeral was held at the Catholic church attended by members of the family and a large circle of friends. James leaves to mourn his loss his parents, three brothers, and six sisters. The body was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery.
