Bio
Gayle Diane Freeman, 81, of Lincoln, Nebraska, and formerly of Friend, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2016. She was born January 31, 1935, to William Elton and Iva Dean in Friend. Gayle's family moved to Washington when she was 5 years old. In grade school and middle school, she excelled on tumbling and baton teams, moving back to Friend in 1949. She received her high school diploma from the University of Nebraska. Gayle married Norman Freeman in 1952 in Lincoln. To this union a daughter, Gay Lee, and son, Norman Dean, were born. Gayle was a life guard for several years at the Friend pool, where she also taught swimming and diving. She worked at Warren Memorial Hospital as a nurse aide and worked as a secretary for Ach & Ach Attorneys at Law, Huston Truck Line and Culligan. She was athletic enjoying roller skating, softball, hunting, and golf. Gayle loved her family above all and enjoyed following their activities. She leaves behind: daughter and son-in-law, Gay and Mike Gill; son and daughter-in-law, Norm and Kathy Freeman; grandchildren and spouses, Corey and Jill Gill, Michelle and Jerry Bourque, Ryan Gill, Molly and Derrick Vanatta, and Justine and Doug Metzger; great-grandchildren, Chloe and Roary Gill, Erik Gill and Jaxx Bourque and Stella and Dawson Vanatta, Thea and Tucker Metzger; sister-in-law, Rosie Freeman; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many dear friends. Preceded in death by: husband, Norman Freeman; parents, Elton and Ivan Dean; parents-in-law, Clee and Josephine Freeman; brothers-in-law, Al Freeman and Don Freeman; grandson, Aaron Gill.
