Bio

Frances M. "Fran" (née Belik) Bowker, 93 Frances was born on June 2, 1923, on the family farm southwest of Ross, North Dakota, the daughter of John and Mary (née Vachal) Belik . Her schooling was in a country one-room school. In 1942 she moved to Stanley, North Dakota, where she was employed as a waitress and later in Dakota Drug. She was married to Everett Bowker on October 12, 1946 in Sidney, Mont. They came from North Dakota in August of 1953, and made their home in Libby. She worked first in the Corner Drug and then the Center Drug. She was one of the first volunteers that started the Libby thrift store when it opened on Sixth Street. She also worked sometimes in the kitchen at the senior center. In the later 1950s and '60s she baked many beautiful wedding cakes for young couples of Libby and Ann Cakes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Bowker; her mother and father; and four brothers, John, Leonard, Louie and Maxmillian; as well as half sister-in-law, Charlotte. She was survived by two sons; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two half sisters-in-law; and one sister-in-law. Frances passed away on November 23, 2016.
