Bio

Donald was born September 29, 1919 to Leon and Beulah Sloan as the first of seven boys in Kaufman County, Texas. Donald served in the army from March 13, 1941 until October 19, 1945. He was attached to the 57th Infantry Division in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. After returning from service he spent some time in Tarrant County with his parents and three other brothers who had also returned from service. He moved to Garland in 1949 and went to work at Kraft Food Company on May 2nd. On June 6th, 1949 Garland experienced a devastating flood. It was here that Donald and Margie met for the first time, while observing the damage. While dating Margie, they attended an old fashion tent revival. Donald gave his heart to Christ, and they have walked this earth’s journey together for 66 years serving the Lord, as he directed their path. They were united in marriage January 30, 1950. From their union they had a son, Donald Andrew on May 21, 1955. After leaving Kraft, Donald worked in the family commercial real estate business. Up until May 2016, he served his downtown Garland community with his entire heart. Donald is survived by his loving wife Margie, son Donald and wife Nancy Sloan of Forney, Texas. His grandchildren; Michael Sloan, Hunter and Rebecca Woolfolk, Will and Julie Sloan along with his six great grandchildren; Hunt, Stella, Caden, Claire, Lilly and Brenlee. In addition to several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
