Bio

Maurine C. Grimes, 97, passed from this life Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at her residence at a local retirement home with her daughter and granddaughter at her side. Maurine was born June 17, 1916, in Roscoe to Jim and Margaret Burchfield. She loved her family and loved going to church. She was a wonderful Christian. She was married to Jack Colquitt on February 5, 1933, and they had two daughters. They were divorced and she later married Frank Grimes and they were married for 39 years. They took many cruises together and had a great time. She was a wonderful friend and was always taking baked goods to her friends and visiting the sick in her church. She made quilts for all her kids and grandchildren. We would like to thank her caregivers, Kathleen Penner and D. Darlene from The CareGivers Group. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Grimes; daughter, Gale Blackburn; nine sisters; and three brothers. Survivors: Daughter, Wanda Asire (Don); grandson, Greg Wortman (Mary); granddaughter, Valarie Brunson (Bobby); son-in-law, Patrick Blackburn; grandsons, Michael Blackburn and Russell Blackburn; three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a few good friends, but at her age most of her friends have passed away.
