Ruby Irene (West) Elzy, 90, formerly of Bruce and Sullivan died August 19, 2016, in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, at McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, August 26, at the funeral home in Sullivan. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church; 215 E Harrison St, Sullivan, IL 61951. Mrs. Elzy was born August 10, 1926, the daughter of Ivan and Ruby West. She married Junior Dale Elzy on February 24, 1946, in Bruce; he preceded her in death on October 12, 2001. She later worked at Brown Shoe Company and in the Moultrie County Circuit Clerk’s office. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sullivan. Surviving are her son Martin Elzy and wife Mary of Austin, Texas, and grandson Joshua Elzy and wife Laura of Rotterdam, Netherlands. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother, James West, and sisters, Ida May Bragg and Arletta Elzy. JG-TC
