Bio

Troy H. McMillin died at St. John's Hospital on November 13, 2016. Troy was born December 28, 1940, In Jay, Oklahoma, to Ralph and Mary McMillin, both deceased. At a young age, Troy moved with his parents to Claremore, Ok. and later to Tulsa, Ok, where he graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1958. He attended Duke University for one year on an academic scholarship. He returned to Tulsa and attended Tulsa University where he studied art with Glenn Godsey. He also studied botany with Dr. Harriet Barclay. Dr. Barclay took her TU students to study the unique environment of a living classroom known as Redbud Valley, northeast of Tulsa. This instilled in him a lifelong love of plants and nature, Troy used his artistic talent, not for fine art, but to paint beautiful faux finishes in many Tulsa homes and Tulsa Designer Showcase homes Troy spent the last several years living at Pythian Manor Senior Apartments where he had many friends. Troy is survived by brother, Carl K. McMillin of Newark, Delaware and sister, Jane A. Podpechan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and many beloved cousins. Troy was a friend of Bill W. A family memorial will be held at a later date.
