Helen Senff, 94, passed away on April 16, 2012 at her daughter's home in Olympia, WA. She was born on Feb. 17, 1918 in Jamestown, ND. Helen married the love of her life, Ernest Senff, in 1934 and together they reared one daughter, Marlene. The family moved to Olympia in 1943 and then in 1959 Helen and Ernie settled in the Steamboat Island area where they owned and operated Ernie's Oyster Company and they also owned a trucking and heavy equipment company. Helen and Ernie were very adventurous, one of the favorite stories happened back in 1952; Ernie built a 15' skiff and set it up for commercial fishing. They launched in Prince Rupert Canada and headed for Alaska, where Marlene joined them where they fished and camped in the beaches all over southeast Alaska for the summer. Later in life Helen and Ernie enjoyed traveling in their motor home, fishing Canadian lakes, and riding quads at the dunes. Helen also loved gardening, sewing, crocheting and having her dog, Dinky, by her side. Helen is survived by her daughter Marlene Bartholet, granddaughters Jeanette (Bruce) Adams, and JoAnne (Brad) Bastian, five great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie, Son-in-law Bob Bartholet, and grandson Mark Bartholet.
