ORD — Lorraine Krason, 90, of Ord passed away on Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Valley View Senior Village. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the Ord Catholic Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Lorraine Cerny Krason was born July 31, 1926, at the home of her parents Frank and Julia (Chalupa) Cerny near Sargent Nebraska. She grew up at the family farm until she entered high school where she stayed with her older brother, Frank Jr and his wife Mary. Lorraine graduated from high school in 1943, with her teachers training and started almost immediately teaching in the Custer County School district where she taught for the next four years. While at a dance in Jungman Hall in rural Valley County, she met her future husband, Thaddeus Krason. They were married on September 24, 1946 at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Sargent. This union lasted almost sixty five years before Thad passed away in May of 2011. Thad and Lorraine’s first few years of marriage saw them move several times from Sargent to Mira Valley south of Ord, where Lorraine raised their two sons, Robert Joseph (Bob) and Leonard LeRoy. In the early sixties, they lived on the west edge of Ord where the Valley County Health System is now located. There, Lorraine was a stay at home mom raising two young boys and keeping a large garden and raising chickens. In April of 1964 Lorraine started working at the Wheelers Store as a part time clerk until June of 1969 when Thad and Lorraine moved to West Point Nebraska for a year. Upon returning to Ord, Lorraine resumed her job at Wheelers in 1970 where she worked part time until 1976 then she became a full time head cashier until her retirement in March of 1989. Lorraine was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church and was active in the Altar Society and enjoyed volunteering at St. Mary’s School. She was a lifetime member of the Ord Chapter of the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary. Her hobbies included crocheting, making quilts, gardening and canning. Thad and Lorraine spent much of their retirement years camping and fishing in the many local lakes and ponds. They loved to travel with their lifelong friends Bob and Bea Coats and her nephew Fr. Hubert Spanel, and saw much of the United States. Lorraine was an avid card player and loved to play Bingo which she enjoyed right up to her passing. Lorraine loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed following them to their various school activities whenever she could. Lorraine is survived by her sons, Robert and his wife MaryAnne and their daughter Stephanie and her husband Hank Williams and their two daughters Harley and Jordan; and Leonard and his wife Peggy and their daughter Jennifer her three sons, Jaden, Jackson and Jesse; and their son Kevin and his wife Jackie and their son Damian and their daughter, June. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents; her brother Frank Cerny Jr. and his wife Mary; her sister Agnes and her husband Rasty Spanel and her sister Alice Sedlacek; infant granddaughters Dana and Jaime Krason.
