Meredith (BLACK) BAZE EASTLAND -- Meredith Baze, 82, of Abilene, formerly of Eastland, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2003 at the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2003, in the Bakker Funeral Chapel with Wyley Peebles officiating. Interment will follow in the Murray Cemetery at Carbon, Texas. She was born to John L. and Mary (Shuman) Black on July 15, 1921 at Carbon, Texas. She grew up in Carbon and graduated from Carbon High School in 1939. She was a clerk at the Carbon Post Office for many years, and married Rayneal Baze on April 6, 1950 in Carbon. They lived in Carbon and Ranger before moving to Eastland in 1965, where she worked as a teacher's aide. She had lived in Abilene since 1999. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eastland. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Leisa Baze of Clyde; a sister, Duluth Jackson of Arlington; and two grandchildren, Ashley Baze and Justin Baze of Clyde. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rayneal in 2000. Family visitation will be held Monday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the R.O. Baze Scholarship Fund at Eastland High School.
