Bio

Dixie Lou Majors of Bonham, Texas passed away November 6, 2016, at the age of 87.  She was born April 20, 1929, to Willie E. Day and Emma F. (Hickman) in McKinney, Texas.  Dixie graduated from McKinney High School.  She married Bill Scott Majors on February 16, 1948 in Dallas, Texas.  They moved to Garland, Texas where they spent a majority of their lives and raised their children.  Dixie’s hobbies included gardening, working in her yard and traveling. Her most joyful moments were with her family during birthday and holiday gatherings.  Dixie cherished her great-great-granddaughter, Lucy.  She lived her life as a strong, moral, and Christian woman.  Dixie was a faithful member of the North Lake Baptist Church in Garland. She is survived by her daughter, Tina Cambis and husband John; son, Randy Majors and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Julie Noe and Sarah Majors, great-grandchildren, Joseph Brooks and fiancée, Laura Crossland; great-great-granddaughter, Lucy; brother, Charles Day and wife Ann; and nephews, Philip Day and Jace Day. Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Majors; parents, Will and Emma Day; and brother, Billy Day. A graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas.  The family will receive friends during a visitation from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.
