Barbara's obituary was added to her memorial on Oct. 20, 2023 ----Judy Johnson Memorial services for Barbara J. (Rhodman) Spiering, 75, Norfolk, will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Stonacek Funeral Chapel in Norfolk. Private inurnment will be at a later date. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel in Norfolk. While surrounded by loved ones, Barb died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. The daughter of Vernon and Edna (Sporleder) Rhodman was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Norfolk. She was baptized on Feb. 27, 1941, at Pierce and confirmed on June 27, 1954, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Northeast Community College in 1991. She married Jerry Spiering. After marriage, they lived in Norfolk. Barb worked in the dietary department at St. Joseph's Nursing Home for 20 years, prior to her retirement in 2011. Barb enjoyed going to concerts and listening to music. Her favorite musician was Jon Bon Jovi. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Barb lived everyday of her life being guided by her faith. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Spiering of Norfolk; a son, Jerrit (Kristin) Spiering of Norfolk; grandson Jagger Spiering and grandson Joshua (Nicole) Spiering and great-granddaughter Harper Spiering, all of Norfolk; two sisters, Connie (Rod) Magnussen of Norfolk and Rita (Payne) Sargisson of Salix, Iowa; and two aunts, Mary Rhodman of Fremont and Marvene Sporleder of Randolph. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon and Edna. Music was provided by organist Starla Landkamer. Congregational hymns will be "Amazing Grace," "Jesus Lives! The Victory's Won," "How Great Thou Art" and "Old Rugged Cross."
