Bio

John B. Unruh, 93, passed away July 24, 2006. He was born October 12, 1912 in Moundridge, Kansas to Benjamin and Eva Unruh, both deceased. Between 1942 and 1945 he served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Pacific Theater and was a decorated combat veteran. He married Ilene Katherine Ryun on October 20, 1940 and they had a model marriage for almost 62 years. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2002. Mr. Unruh was active in the Alexander Film Company before it closed and he retired as a teamster. He was a respected man described as strong, yet gentle and stubborn, yet reasonable. John is survived by 4 children,; two sisters,; five grandchildren,; as well as two great grandchildren. Viewing is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 29, with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 701 N. 20th St., 80904 with Reverend Jerry Boles officiating. Interment will be at 12 noon at Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2315 Bott Ave., Colorado Springs, CO. 80904.
