Married Barbara Sue Proctor on June 19, 1955 in San Angelo, Tom Green County, TX. From the San Angelo Standard-Times , Saturday, October 22, 2016: John Danzil Barnett, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at his home, after a short illness, with his wife, Nettie by his side. Memorial service is at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016, at Southgate Church of Christ. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home/Sherwood Way. Johnny was a great and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Christian. John was more interested in leaving his legacy behind not by words but with his actions. First and foremost Johnny was faithful to God, loved his family with all of his heart and loved his country with equal conviction. Johnny enjoyed being in the mountains and he loved his dogs, Yogi and Tuzie. He was always up for a relaxing game of Wahoo or Joker except if he was losing. John was loved by many and will be sorely missed by all. He was born Nov. 9, 1936, to Clarence and Lucille Barnett. He attended San Angelo Schools and served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1962. He married Barbara Proctor and had two children, son John Danzil Jr. (Davey) and daughter Belinda. He married the love of his life, Nettie in 1979 and they "lit up one another's life for 37 years". John worked for SIC, DelTex, Jim Bass Ford and retired earlier this year for the third time from Concho Educator's Federal Credit Union. After his first retirement in 2001 John and Nettie enjoyed fulltime RVing for 10 years. Later John enjoyed his part time work for the CEFCU. John was a long time member of the Lions Club in Midland and San Angelo and Southgate Church of Christ. His greatest joy was his beautiful wife, Nettie, his Girls and his 27 grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly called him Paw Paw and will miss his love and guidance every day. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Davey; brother Clarence; and sisters Rose (Totsie) Moore and Sissy. John is survived by his wife, Nettie J. Barnett; daughters Belinda Counts (Kevin), Johnelle Turner (Mike), Barbie Roach (Dusty) and Jena Chandler-Mining. He is Paw Paw to 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Barnett; sister-in-law Oda Barnett; as well as numerous neices, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
