Published in the Athens Review January 24, 1929 W.B. (Uncle Bill) Burden died Thursday morning at 11 o'clock, January 17th, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charlie Tiner. Rev. D.R. Cartlidge conducted the funeral services at the Davis cemetery Friday afternoon. Mr. Burden was 75 years of age and had lived in Anderson and Henderson counties for the past fifty years and was well known to many of the residents of the section. Two sons and five daughters survive him. These are as follows: Buster Burden of Athens; Leonard Burden of Springfield: Mrs. L.R. Tiner of Malakoff; Mrs. C.H. Tiner and Mrs. Oma Mullins of Elm Grove; Mrs. Cora Kirk of Pine Grove; Mrs. Carrie Lambright of Carroll Springs. "Uncle Bill" was, in his late years, a familiar figure in Athens and was the object of sympathy of many in his infirmities of old age. He contracted pneumonia to which malady he succumbed following a short illness.
