LCDR Albert T. Shearer USN (ret), age 91, of York, NE, died Friday, October 20, 2016 at Lincoln, NE. He was born August 25, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY to Albert and Edna (Ochs) Shearer. Albert served in the Navy from 1943 until 1966, a career which spanned 23 years. He was married to Barbara Reetz on October 7, 1972 in Alameda, CA. He was a past member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in York, the NRA, and the TROA. Albert loved attending classic car shows and restoring classic cars, especially Packards. He also enjoyed traveling and was an avid reader. Survivors include his wife Barbara; children, Thomas Shearer, Geoffrey (Wendy) Shearer, Diane (Allen) Vysinka, Roberta (Thomas) Duckwitz, Robert (Carrie Simeon) Lee, Albert (Amber) Shearer, Timothy Shearer, and Allison Shearer. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding Albert in death were his parents and a brother Bruce. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the Metz Chapel in York. Graveside services with full military honors will be held in the Omaha National Cemetery, Omaha, NE at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 27, 2016.
