R.E. "Poppy" Hammack, 80, of Amarillo died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum. Mr. Hammack was a member the Panhandle Bluegrass and Olde Tyme Music Association for more than 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, on Dec. 8, 2004. Survivors include a son, Rick and wife Vickie of Amarillo; a daughter, Judy Hammack of San Antonio; a sister, Mildred Snider of Amarillo; two grandchildren, Brent Hammack of Amarillo and Brandon Hammack and wife Carrie of Claremore, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren, MaCaley Hammack of Amarillo and Mitchell Hammack of Claremore. In lieu of flowers and food, the family suggests memorials be to the Scholarship Fund of the Panhandle Bluegrass and Olde Tyme Music Association or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 733 Third Ave., New York, NY 10017.
