Bio

Paul Richard Walker was born in Pleasant Grove, Utah to William (Bill) and Matilda Bullock Walker. He was the youngest of 3 children. He met his wife Thelma in Sandy, Utah. They were married August 25, 1968 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was later solemnized in the St. George temple on February 16, 2002. Paul had four step-children and their spouses who loved and adored him: Shauna (Ken) Crittenden, Charis (Jay) Stansell, Norman (Janet) Newbold, and Bob (Vauna) Newbold. From a previous marriage, he also had six children: Kurt, Shauna, Jill, David, Keith, and Dean. Paul was employed by Smith's Food King as a produce manager for over 40 years. He was known for being able to pick for his customers A-1 watermelons! Paul and Thelma worked and lived in several locations as Smith's opened new stores in Idaho, Utah, and Arizona. In his retirement years, he happily greeted and assisted children on school days as a crossing guard for Red Mountain Elementary. Paul loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He always had a strong affection for his dogs and in recent years Barney, Rebel, and Bailey were ever by his side; demonstrating their adoration for him. He had a unique connection with birds and faithfully fed them in his backyard every morning. He loved sitting on his deck watching them fly in to peck away at the birdseed he provided for them. Hecouldtellyou the name of every kind of bird that visited his backyard bird haven. Paul was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He served in many callings throughout his life. He was also a worker in the St. George Temple baptistery. Paul was a fun and caring grandpa and was so proud of every one of his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and was always grateful for their visits and phone calls. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers Dale and Norman, and his stepson Norman Earl Newbold. Paul will be laid to rest at the Ivins City Cemetery.
