Bio

Forest T. Lowe, 93, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Calhoun Health Services in Calhoun City. He was born Aug. 8, 1908, in Calhoun County to the late Rufua T. Lowe and Elizabeth Anderson Lowe. He was a retired school teacher. He taught history and coached in the Calhoun County Schools and at Walnut High School. He last taught at Cole Springs, Ala. He was a Deacon and Sunday School teacher and a choir member at the Macedonia Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at the Pryor Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ira Alley officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsboro Cemetery. Survivors include four nieces, Ruth Chrestman of Pittsboro, Lorette James of Bruce, Dot Hardin of Derma, and Libby Griffin of Coffeeville; two nephews, LaDerel Harrelson of Lenora, Tenn., and James Edward Lowe of Coffeeville. Pallbearers will be LaDerel Harrelson, James Lowe, Tony Hardin, Larry James, Hilly Griffin, Larry Winter and Jerry James. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Fred White, Forest "Popie" Pope, Bill Lord and the Deacons of the Macedonia Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
