He recently has been living in Cooper. Charles was born Oct. 24, 2921, in Denver, Colo. to Thomas and Ella Emmert Kenney Charles was a World War II veteran, who served as a combat infantryman with the U.S. Army in the Pacific. After the war, he was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Chicago. In the early 1950s, he moved to San Antonio and continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service until his retirement. He was married to Dorene Collins on Feb. 28, 1956, in San Antonio, where they resided until her death in 2000. Charles then moved to Greenville where Dorene was buried. He is predeceased by his parents; his wife; his step-sons, Gene C. Dixon and Harold M. Dixon; and his sisters, Mary Tully and Rita Maconi. Charles is survived by his nieces, Mary Jo Tully of Portland, Ore. Delphine Tully Fields of Chicago; and his nephew, Charles T. Tully of Lago Vista.
