Cenotaph here == William was a farmer and stock-raiser. William was the eldest of 7 children and was educated partly in Preston County, Kentucky, and partly in Lawrence County, Kentucky. At age 19 he moved to Denver, Colorado, and engaged in teaming for about two years. He returned to Dade County, Missouri, and bought half interest in the old homestead of 160 acres. In March 1868 he married Mattie A. Fisk. She died July 1, 1874, and left 2 children, Roselle and Thomas. William married a second wife, Miss Mary Neuman. She was the second of 6 children, born in Germany and reared in Pennsylvania and Missouri. They were married on June 21, 1874. Together they had four children: Sarah, Dora, Charles, and Fred. Mr. Shirrod was a member of the Masonic and Odd Fellows order and was highly respected. ===== FUNERAL OF MR. SHIRROD Services Will Be Held from Vassar Chapel This Afternoon Funeral services for the late William R. Shirrod, who died at his ranch home near Uniontown last Tuesday, will be held from the Vassar chapel this afternoon at 2:30, with Rev. Christ of Richfield, Idaho in charge. Mr. Shirrod is survived by eight children, two brothers, one sister, twelve grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. The children are Mrs. Rose E. White, Mrs. Dora Bell Fish, Mrs. Sarah Ann Miller, and Thomas, Charles, William, Clarence, and Forrest Shirrod. Mrs. Shirrod died two years ago. Two brothers, L. K. and Robert Shirrod, and one sister, Mrs. Kate Wright, survive. Mr. Shirrod was one of the oldest settlers in the Uniontown country and was well known to the entire Lewiston region.
