Bio

Louise (LuLu) Denton Powers, 87, of Lubbock passed away Monday, Dec. 18, 2006. Mrs. Powers was born Nov. 6, 1919 in Whitewright, Texas to the late A. B. and Viola Pruitt. She attended school at Morgan and Wilson, Texas. She married Norvell E. (Dick) Denton in Nov. 1941. He preceded her in death in 1964. Louise later married Thomas Powers in February 1972. Mrs. Powers is survived by her husband; her son, Linnuel Denton and wife Beverly of Ft Worth; a step-son, Scott Powers of Houston; and sister, Jo Laverne Jones and husband, Homer of Lubbock. She is also survived by a granddaughter, one great grandson, and many nieces and nephews who made her their own. Services will be conducted by Homer Jones, Jr., 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Slaton with interment in Englewood Cemetery and under the direction of Englunds Funeral Service in Slaton.
