Donna M. Wilson, 85, of Kearney, died Friday, September 30, 2016 at St. John’s Good Samaritan Center. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Kearney First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melody Adams officiating. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Donna was born July 23, 1931 in Brush, Colorado to Carl J. and Sally (Canatsey) Skiles. She was raised in Fort Morgan, CO and Greeley, CO. Donna received her education in Ft. Morgan, CO and later the Greeley Teachers College. On February 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Richard D. Wilson in Greeley, CO. The couple lived in Ft. Collins, CO for three years, Minden, NE for 15 years, York, NE for one year and Kearney for the past 49 years. While living in Minden, Donna worked as a nurse at the Minden Hospital. After moving to Kearney, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Jester, a Media Aid at Kearney Junior High School and a secretary for the Buffalo County Fair Board. She was a longtime member of the Kearney First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and Eastern Star. Donna enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, sewing doll clothes, making wedding dresses for others, gardening and cooking for anyone in need. She was also an avid Husker Football Fan. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 65 years, Richard Wilson of Kearney; sons Clark (Cherlyn) Wilson of Omaha and John (Laura) Wilson of Kearney; daughters Sheri Lynn Wilson of Golden, CO and Suzan Kay Wilson of Kearney; grandchildren Shannon Murry, Brian (Lindsey) Murry Chrisanne (Bryan) Wickham, Kisten Wilson, Erik Wilson, Katarina Wilson; great grandchildren Taylor Wickham, Morgan Wickham and Olivia Murry. Donna was preceded in death by her parents and brothers.
