Bio

Johnnie G (Geneva) Clayton was born August 5, 1903, in Franklin County, Texas, the child of Charley Smith Clayton and Emma Canara Plemmons. Charley Smith Clayton was a Grocer in Winnsboro. She married Marion Franklin LARGENT in 1917 in Delta County, Texas and they had two children together: Dorothy Charlene Largent Bradfield and Clyrene G Largent Parsley. They were divorced before 1940. She was married to Edward G Mahan before 1949 and they lived in Ft Worth, Texas. They were divorced prior to 1970 She married John Edward (Edd) Dobbs Sr. on December 26, 1970, in Parker County, Texas. This marriage ended in 1974. She died on January 15, 1993, in Winnsboro, Texas. She is buried in the Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County, Texas. The following death notice is from the Ft Worth Star Telegram dated 18 January 1993. The death notice erroneously listed her gender as a male. "Johnnie Clayton Mahan of Winnsboro, a long time resident of Ft Worth and a retired machinist for General Dynamics died Friday at a Winnsboro hospital. He (she) was 91 (shows incorrect DOB of 1902). Funeral 2 PM today at Beaty Funeral Home in Winnsboro. Buried at Harmony Cemetery in Hopkins County." Note: No grave marker has been located for Johnnie. She is likely buried either in the plot with her father and mother or in the plot of her grandfather [William B Clayton] and her son-in-law, Charles L Pasley. These two plots are located a distance apart from each other.
