Margaret Ruth Dickerson Bell passed away on Sunday, November 15, 2015, in Lufkin, Texas, her home for the past six years. Ruth was born on December 7, 1923, in Petty, Texas, to Joe Riley Dickerson and Winnie Alice Dickerson. She and her two younger sisters, Helen and Doris, spent much of their childhood living on a farm near Ferris, Texas, in the little community of India before moving to Seagoville, where Ruth graduated from high school. On August 6, 1943, she married Luther Almand Bell, and for 72 years they were husband and wife and best friends. For the past 10 years, as Ruth fought Parkinson’s disease, Almand was her devoted, constant companion and loving caretaker. Ruth was preceded in death by her son, James Harold Bell, her parents, her sister, Helen Hoops, and her brother-in-law, Edward Hoops. Ruth is survived by her beloved husband, Luther A. Bell; son, Michael J. Bell and wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, James Kelly Bell and wife, Tammie; Chris Bell, and fiancé Katrina Walker; and Katherine Bell Loverin and husband, Cody; great-grandchildren, Justin Bell, Allison Loverin, and Kaiden Bell; step-great-grandchildren, Joshua Baker and wife, Amy, and Lacie Baker; step-great-great-grandchildren, Callie Baker and Chloe Baker; her sister, Doris Fisher, and her extended family, including brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were dear to her. Ruth and Almand were members of Westbury Church of Christ in Houston, Texas, and the Church of Christ in Kosse, Texas, where they were faithful members and diligent workers. Ruth exemplified the Christian woman. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and was devoted to her family. No harsh or cruel words ever passed from her lips. She was gentle, loving, and kind to everyone, and her sweet spirit made it a joy to be in her presence. Visitation held 7:00-9:00 pm Thursday, November 19, 2015, at Green Funeral Home, 207 S. Wood St. in Ferris, Texas. Funeral service held 11:00 am Friday, November 20, 2015, at Green Funeral Home, with Charles Boren officiating. Interment at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
