Irene was born on April 23, 1925 in Colbert, Oklahoma to Wesley and Lola Mills Bolden. Irene Bolden Crain April 23, 1925 - September 25, 2016 Irene Bolden Crain, 91, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Avenue Church of Christ, 3000 Park Ave, Denison, TX 75020. Her grandson, Pastor Luke Crain, will officiate. Family visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm at Fisher Funeral Home, 604 W. Main Street, Denison, Texas 75020. Graveside services will be private. Irene was born on April 23, 1925 in Colbert, Oklahoma to Wesley and Lola Mills Bolden. She attended and graduated from Colbert High School. She first met the love of her life, Morgan Grant (M.G.) Crain, at a very young age. Morgan entered the service and they corresponded for five years. He came home during a brief furlough and they married the following day on May 12, 1944 in Durant, Oklahoma and were blessed with 62 years together. They had six children and resided in Denison, Texas for more than 65 years. Irene was a homemaker and also worked and volunteered the last 25 years at the Senior Citizen Center in Denison, working up until the day she became ill two weeks ago. She enjoyed working with many friends and was paid with lots of hugs. Irene loved her family and the Lord and was a long time member of Park Avenue Church of Christ. She was a Memaw and Mom to many, and her extended family looked forward to a breakfast of chocolate gravy with biscuits before church. She taught children at Sunday school, painted ceramics for many years, and crocheted an incredible number of afghan blankets for many. She loved raising vegetables and along with her son planted a garden each year. She was also a regular on Saturday mornings at Nick’s and Sundays at Pop’s Place. Irene was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Lola Bolden, her husband, M.G. Crain, her brother, Johnnie Bolden, her sisters, Willie Lee Baker, Lorene Gentry, and Rachel Richards and her son-in-law, James Fox. She is survived by her sons, Steve Crain and wife, Kay of Denison, Johnnie Crain of Denison, Dennis Crain of Lavaca, Arkansas, and daughters, Margie Crain Clever and husband, Bud of Cartwright, Oklahoma, Donna Crain Stark and husband, Chuck of Plano, Dianna Crain Fox of Denison, 10 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and her sisters, Dorotha (Dot) Armstrong and husband, Gerald of Denison, and Barbara Wilemon of Garland. Pallbearers will be grandsons Jason Hunt and Joshua Thomas, great grandsons Stephen Nelson, Jr., Keyton James, and Parker Estes, and Kendall Crews, close family friend.
