Bio

Beth “Betty” Graves Price was born on May 27, 1943 in McKinney, Texas and lived in Waxahachie for over 40 years. She passed peacefully on September 17, 2016 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jack Frank Price. Beth loved being with friends and family and was an advocate for the arts and the Waxahachie community. As a result, she acted as President of the Ellis County Museum Board, the Waxahachie Symphony Association and the Heirloom Club and sat on the board of Historic Waxahachie and the Chautauqua Preservation Society. Beth was also involved with the Gingerbread Trail, Gardener’s Limited, Crape Myrtle Council, Historic Waxahachie, Waxahachie Junior Service League and founded the Friday Book Club. After earning her Masters in Art History at SMU, Beth continued her involvement in the arts with the Godbey Lecture Series, Dallas Museum of Art League, Dallas Theatre Guild and the Dallas Symphony League. She was an enthusiastic traveler and visited museums and exhibits around the world. Beth combined her love of learning and her friends throughout her life. Outings to the theater, symphony, museums and movie matinees with girlfriends were special with Beth along. Over the years in Waxahachie, she was cherished by many beloved life-long friends. Always a lady with a keen wit, her family and friends will remember Beth for her sweet spirit and the grace and charm she exuded throughout her life. Beth is survived by her husband, Jack Frank Price of Waxahachie; daughter Mary Elizabeth Sullivan and her husband Bill; grandchildren Caroline Grace Sullivan and Benjamin Price Sullivan of Austin. Her sister, Sonja Muirhead and husband Roy of Plano; and her brother Gordon Graves and wife Susan of Plano. (Obituary gathered from Boze Mitchell McKibbin Funeral Home Website)
