Goldie L. (Parsley) Patrick, 90, of Okanogan, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006. She was born in Patrick, Ark. In 1941, she moved to Washington state and worked for Star Orchards for several years. Later, she owned orchards in Malott and above Okanogan. Survivors include four children, Sam Patrick and Kay Behymer, both of Omak, Sue Tarbert of Wenatchee and Vicki Till of Rathdrum, Idaho; one brother, Bill Parsley of Anchorage, Alaska; and two sisters, Mae Gulledge of Arkansas and Doris Jones of California. Services are 11 a.m. today at Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel in Okanogan, followed by interment at the Okanogan City Cemetery and a luncheon at the Eagles Lodge in Okanogan. Arrangements are by Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. The Chronicle Goldie L. (Parsley) Patrick was born March 18, 1916 at Patrick, Ark. to William and Ida (Baker) Parsley. She attended schools at Possum Creek, Delaney and St. Paul High School where she played basketball. Goldie married George Patrick on August 9, 1937 at Fayetteville, Ark. They moved to Washington in 1941 where they worked for Star Orchards for several years. Goldie and George worked at the Van Port, Ore. ship yard in 1942 - 1943. They returned to the Star Orchard near Pateros before purchasing an orchard in Malott in 1947. In 1955 they purchased an orchard above Okanogan. They built a new home in 1967 on their orchard property where Goldie continued to live after George's passing in 1988. Goldie continued to operate her orchard with the help of her family until the age of 88. Goldie was a member of a Independent Order of Foresters for many years and was Chief Ranger for several years. She was a member of the Okanogan Grange and helped many years working in the Grange Fair Food Booth. She was very active in the Okanogan County Fair and won many outstanding baking and canning awards. Goldie loved making quilts which were given to family and friends or just someone who needed a quilt. We all sleep more peacefully under her quilts that were made out of love for each of us. Goldie was a great cook and enjoyed having her family around, enjoyed gardening and her flowers. Goldie is survived by one son, Sam (Darlene) Patrick of Omak; and three daughters, Sue (Jim) Tarbert of Wenatchee, Kay (Robin) Behymer of Omak, Vicki Till of Rathdrum, Idaho; daughter-in-law, Helen Patrick of Spokane; and 12 grandchildren, Laura Calvery, Kelly Decker, Tim Patrick, Dan Tarbert, Kim VanRyzin, Theresa Sheldon, George Patrick, Bryan Behymer, Rob Behymer, Gracie Abangon, Adam Luntsford and Mike Till; and also many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Goldie is also survived by a brother, Bill Parsley of Anchorage, Alaska; and two sisters, Mae Gulledge in Arkansas and Doris Jones in California. Goldie was preceded in death by her husband, George Patrick in 1988 and her son, Bob Patrick, in 1996; two grandchildren, two brothers; and two sisters. Visitation was held Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel. Services were held at 11 a.m. at the Chapel with interment at the Okanogan City Cemetery. Luncheon followed at the Eagles Lodge. Precht-Harrison-Nearents Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
