William John Prihoda, 62 of Damon, passed away on Thursday, November 17, 2011, at his home. He was born August 19, 1949 in Angleton, TX. Willie graduated from Danbury High School and begin working at Danbury Industries where he learned his carpentry skills. He enjoyed taking Czech language classes at Alvin Community College. Willie enjoyed God's gift of nature and the beautiful outdoors, traveling, meeting new people, and visiting with his many, many friends. His favorite places to visit were the Tennessee Mountains, Alaska, and Europe where he shared many interesting stories from his travels. He was an avid reader, enjoying all types of magazines, novels, and literary classics. Willie was a talented craftsman and a master carpenter. He built his own sawmill. He cut, planed, and dried his own wood. He handcrafted many beautiful wooden pieces, cabinets, and furniture for businesses, churches, and private collectors. He was a talented musician. He could play the violin, banjo, and guitar. He played for many weddings and enjoyed playing with Bobby Jones and the Texas Plainsmen. He brought his great musical talent to many family gatherings. Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Bill Prihoda, and Martha and Oldrich Dvorak. Willie is survived by his sisters, Martha Ann Polasek and husband, Robert, of Markham, Cynthia Grandjean and husband, Victor, of Lake Jackson, Angie Dvorak of Angleton, and Marilyn Shipman and husband, Gary, of Sweeny; brother, Anthony J. Dvorak of Danbury; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Jacob Dines, Arnold Svoboda, Jr., Bob Bidwell, and Aunt Marie Svoboda for their unwavering care, love, and support. Their visits were a blessing to Willie and touched his life in a special way. For this, the family will be forever grateful. Memorial services will be Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at Dixon Funeral Home in Brazoria, with Deacon Jerry Michalec officiating.
