Thomas W. “Tommy” Fields, born February 18, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to John Thomas Fields and Jessie Pearl McKay, passed away September 8, 2016, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 73, following a courageous 17-year battle with cancer and numerous other medical issues. He was always strong in his battle, never complaining about the circumstances surrounding his health or questioning the journey God had planned for him. He always maintained – and never lost – his positive attitude. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Jack; and two sisters, Elizabeth and Lucille. Tommy had a 30-year career with Baker Hughes/Baker Oil Tools serving in Oklahoma, Kansas, California, and Houston. He enjoyed raising and training horses for equestrian riding events during which he won many awards for showmanship and jumping. But more than anything, he loved the game of golf. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty; his son, Kevin from Houston; his daughters, Tiffany, Shannon, and Jessie from Oklahoma City, OK; his grandchildren, Dylan and London from Houston and Taylor and Bryce from Oklahoma City; his sister, Marilyn Frye and husband Gary; and many additional family members. Burial with military honors will take place at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, at Houston National Cemetery. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone who so lovingly showed their support during Tommy’s long illness. Klein Memorial Funeral Home
