Bio

Don Rech, 48, of Ulysses, Nebr. died Sunday at the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln. He had not been feeling well most of the summer and had been in hospitals most of the past month. He is survived by his wife, Doris, the former Doris Himmelberg daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Himmelberg and six children, Dave, Dan, Debbie, Diane, Doug and Duane. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic church in Ulysses. The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Thursday, September 23, 1976; pg. 1 ======= Funeral Services for Donald R. Rech, 48, Dwight, were conducted Wednesday morning Sept. 22, from Immaculate Conception Church, Ulysses. Mr. Rech died Sunday Sept. 19, at the Veterans Hospital in Lincoln. Msgr. G.J. Schuster officiated at the services. Music was furnished by the church choir accompanied by the organist, Cindy Krska. American Legion members and Catholic Workmen members attended in a body. Pallbearers were Bryan Murta, Sean Murta, Tom Robinson, Larry Himmelberg, Brian Himmelberg and Paul Soucie. Burial was in Ulysses Catholic Cemetery. Military services were conducted by the Dwight American Legion Post. Donald R. Rech, the son of Emil J. Rech and Anna Chemelka, was born July 12, 1928, at Ulysses. He attended school at Ulysses. On June 1, 1954, he was united in marriage to Doris Himmelberg at Lawrence. Six children were born to this union. He was engaged in farming. He was a member of the Catholic Church, The Catholic Workman, the American Legion and the Ulysses Fire Department. He served in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Doris; six children, David, Daniel, Deborah, Diane, Douglas and Dwayne all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil J. Rech of Ulysses; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Murta of Omaha. Among the relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. John J. Himmelberg, Don Himmelberg, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Himmelberg, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Himmelberg, and Mr. and Mrs. John Himmelberg all of Lawrence. Mr. and Mrs. Max Robinson of Bloomington, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Himmelberg, of Deweese, Mr. and Mrs. Orville Himmelberg of Friend, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Soucie of Fairfield, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Crucitt of El Segundor, Calif. and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Brott of Lakewood, Colo.
