Bio

HELEN FLINN, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in a Portland Nursing Home. She was born May 23, 1915 in Aransas Pass, Texas to James Martin & Lily Cole Johnson. She grew up in Aransas Pass and attended school there. On March 7, 1934 she married William Emmett Flinn Sr. and they made their home near Taft on the family farm. Helen was a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Taft where she was a Sunday school teacher and worked in the nursery. She was a loving wife & homemaker and devoted her entire life to caring for her husband, children, grandchildren and many other children and family members. She served as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Troup Leader. Helen was also a member of the Busy Bee Club of Taft. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Emmett Flinn, in 1977, two sisters and three brothers. Survivors include her two sons, William Emmett (Susan) Flinn, Jr. of Austin, Texas and George Evan (Sandra) Flinn of Taft, Texas; daughter, Judy Kathryn Flinn (John) Poole of Taft, Texas; 9 grandchildren, William Emmett (Stacy) Flinn III, Scarlett Marie Flinn (Oscar) Owen, George Evan Flinn Jr., Kathryn Leigh Kalmbach, Erin Lynnette Flinn, Stephanie Marowyn Flinn, Richard Wayne Kalmbach II, Adriane Denise Flinn and Amanda Rose Elizabeth Flinn; two great grandchildren, Anthony Justin Kalmbach & William Gavin Flinn, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and many friends. Visitation and funeral services were conducted on Dec. 9 at First Presbyterian Church in Taft. Rev. Don Lijestrand officiating. Interment followed at Taft Memorial Park.
