Bio

A memorial service for Paul Leland Irby, age 89 of Winnsboro, will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Pine Hill Presbyterian Church on Hwy. 3019 in Hopkins County. Mr. Irby was born on Jan. 20, 1927 in the Pine Hill community in Hopkins County to Ernest Byron Irby and Eva Luvine Sharp Irby. He attended Cartwright School and graduated from Pickton High School. He was a member of the Pine Hill Presbyterian Church. After serving his country in the United States Army and the Merchant Marines during WWII, he returned home to the family farm and worked his life as a dairy farmer and later in the pulp wood industry. Mr. Irby died Thursday, Aug. 11, 2016 at Mission Manor Nursing Home in Mount Vernon. He was preceded in death by parents, his siblings Joe Ben Irby, Troy Irby, Buck Irby, Roger Irby and Maxine Irby Young. He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth Irby Aden of Mount Vernon plus many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
