Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Mary Wanat; wife, Katherine; sister, Lucy Schomer; and brother, John Wanat. Enlisted in the United States Army November 1, 1939 and was discharged November 1, 1948 with the rank of TEC 5. In the 1940 census, he was living in the barracks in San Antonio, Texas, and listed as being in Company A, 9th Infantry.
