Bio

Anton Carl Simanek, 61, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Walker, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at Crestview Acres, Marion. Service: 4 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point. Visitation: 1 - 4 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2016, at the funeral home. Burial: Walker Cemetery, Walker, Iowa. Survivors include his mother, Dorothy; brother, Allen (Linda) Simanek; and his former wife, Theresa Devore. He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur. Anton was born on December 17, 1954, in Omaha, Nebraska, son of Arthur and Dorothy (Penas) Simanek. He was the founder and leader of the Czech Artists Band. Anton enjoyed hunting and wildlife but especially was a good chef and enjoyed cooking. He was a lifetime member of the Buchanan County Wildlife Association.
