Raymond L. Stetz (1927 - 2016) Raymond L. Stetz, 89, died Sunday, September 4, 2016, at Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 8 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Bryan. Raymond was born February 21, 1927, in Brazos County the son of Joseph and Stella (Paradowski) Stetz. Raymond graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, TX, continuing his education at the University of Houston for a short time. He served our country during World War II in the United States Army in the medical corps at Ft. Lewis, WA. After the war, he served in the Texas National Guard, 49th Armored Division/386th Engineer Battalion for over 25 years. He continued his service in the Texas National Guard 143rd Airborne Infantry making 44 jumps achieving Jump Master status. During this time Raymond was employed at the United States Postal Service in Bryan where he was a carrier for 31 years. Raymond was a member of the American Legion Earl Graham Post 159. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph usher's club for over 30 years, and a 3rd degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus Monsignor Gleissner 1834. He enjoyed spending time with family at his farm and working cattle. He also enjoyed traveling the United States and around the world. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Stetz of Bryan; six daughters, Elizabeth Graff of College Station, Pam Stetz of Bryan, Donna Stetz and husband Jim Prikryl of San Antonio, Linda Stetz of Bryan, Monica Bayer of Manhattan, KS, and Loretta Waldrop and husband Gary of Richmond, TX; sisters, Cecilia Martin of Houston, and Regina Opersteny and husband Charles of Bryan, and brother Alvin Stetz and wife Marie of Bryan; grandchildren, Matthew Hunn and partner Jeff Marino of Houston, James Graff of College Station, Nicole Marucci of Richmond, TX, Grant Waldrop and Hayden Waldrop of Richmond, TX, Emilian Stetz and Aleksei Stetz of San Antonio; great-grandchildren, Eleanor, Charlotte and Andrew Marino-Hunn of Houston.
