Bio

A resident of Aurora, Lawrence County, Missouri, she married Glen Orville Newcum 24 February 1945 in Carroll County, Arkansas. Obituary from Lawrence County Record posted January 28, 2014: Ivon Davis Rickman, age 98, of Keenesburg, Colorado, formerly of Aurora, Missouri, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on January 26, 2014 at the Elms Haven Care Center in Thornton, Colorado. She was born December 15, 1915 in Aurora, Missouri, the daughter of the late James Sherman Davis and Frances Lenora (Norman) Davis. Ivon lived in Aurora most of her life and was a 1933 graduate of Aurora High School. She worked for the Juvenile Shoe Factory and was a member of the First Christian Church. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Ivon was a strong Christian woman and she dearly loved her family. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Parila Spoering, and her husband, Gary, of Keenesburg, Colorado; stepdaughter, Barbara Ashworth, and her partner, Patrick Hill, of Republic, Missouri; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Ivon was preceded in death by her husbands, Glen Newcum on January 19, 1953, Lewis Means on December 9, 1988, and James Rickman on June 27, 2003. Her sister, Betty Joe Cutbirth Buehler, brother, Lester Davis, and grandson, Erin Micah Spoering, also preceded her in death. A graveside service under the direction of the Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home was held on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Maple Park Cemetery. Prior to the service, lunch was provided at the Aurora Community Center for family and friends attending the service.
