Source: History and Genealogy of the Witherspoon Family, 1400-1972 by Joseph Bailey Witherspoon cites on p. 133 that Joseph Witherspoon (1777-1850) married Jane Boyd and that he immigrated to Iredell County, North Carolina, from Ireland with John Boyd, Robert Boyd, James, Josiah and William Boyd.
