Bio

I made this memorial at Danny's request in September of 2016. He said he wanted to be buried in Mattox Cemetery when he passed away. His wife, Charlotte has always wanted to be in that cemetery and he wanted to be where ever Charlotte was. Danny had been married before and Joy Nell is buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Gilmer, Texas. While he loved Joy Nell very much when she was alive, he chose to be with Charlotte in death. I respected his wish and made his memorial, never dreaming it would be needed in January 2017. With the exception of this paragraph, Danny read and approved this memorial. Mary Martin Eisel Danny Wayne Cargil passed away suddenly on January 2, 2017 at Good Shepherd Hospital in Longview, Gregg County, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 5th at Grubbs Loyd Funeral Home in Diana, Texas. Funeral will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 6th in the funeral home chapel, with Berkley Boyd officiating. Danny will be laid to rest in Mattox Cemetery, Diana, Upshur County, Texas. Danny is survived by his wife, Charlotte (Martin) Cargil of Diana, Texas, daughter: Meloney Perry-Ticer and husband, Mark Ticer of Dallas, brother: Kenneth Cargil and wife, Lillian of San Marcos, and grandchildren: Jessica and Sarah Perry of Dallas, and stepson: Mark Helms of Diana, Texas and his family. Danny was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Nell (Jones) Cargil, his parents: Baylos Frankiln (Pete) Cargil and Mable Hulane (Willeford) Cargil, his brothers: Sonny, Jimmy and Dickey Cargil, and stepson: Alan Curt Helms. Danny served our country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam, attached to the 187th Assault Helicopter Company. He was retired from the Union Pacific Railroad. Danny was a fine man who would help anyone who needed help. He will be missed by many, but will be remembered for his great smile, his wit and his love for family.
