Emily J. Michalski, 68, of Kearney, died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at CHI Health Good Samaritan Hospital. A Memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at the O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home with the Rev. officiating. There will be no visitation. To honor her wish, Mrs. Michalski was cremated. O'Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Em was born November 20, 1947 in Ord, Nebraska to Adolph and Virginia (Chalupa) Urbanovsky. She was a 1965 graduate of Ord High School and later attended the Lincoln School of Commerce. On June 4, 1966, Em was united in marriage to Terry Michalski at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elyria, NE. Em worked as an administrative assistant for several businesses, including the Kearney Hub, Kearney Catholic High School and Herberger's. She also worked at the Nebraska State Capitol and as a typesetter for the Arnold Newspaper. Em enjoyed doing many arts and crafts projects. Most of all, she cherished baking, playing games and going on walks with her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband Terry Michalski of Kearney; daughters Heidi Nutter and husband Jon of Kearney, Michelle Michalski of Denver, CO; son Nicholas Michalski and wife Sara of Colorado Springs, CO; granddaughters Bailey and Becca Nutter, Hannah, Audrey, Tessa and Josie Michalski; sister Kathy Janda and husband Dick of Lincoln; brothers Dennis Urbanovsky and wife Pat of Ord and Mike Urbanovsky and wife Shannon of Lincoln; as well as several nieces and nephews. Em was preceded in death by her parents and niece Jenny Janda.
