Marcella "Ruth" Bellmyer Smith Ramsey March 21, 1919 - August 29, 2016 Ruth Ramsey, 97, went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 29, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy 277 South. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2016, at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park. Ruth was born March 21, 1919 in Wylie, Texas to Walter and Laura Biggs Bellmyer. She married Charles Dewitt Smith on March 13, 1941. The couple moved to McCamey after they married, and later moved to Abilene in 1961. She loved to sew and crochet gifts for family and would make caps and booties any time she found out someone was expecting. She was a girl scout leader for several years, but prided herself on being a ''household engineer''. Ruth loved family and having her grandkids around. She is survived by one daughter, Carla Beth Gerhart and husband Walter; two grandchildren, Carolyn Kay Akin and husband David of Roy, Utah; and Casey Michelle Preissinger and husband Jacob of Ft. Worth; four great-grandchildren, Kathwryn Ann Kilpatrick, Alex Akin, Keeley and Uny Preissinger; and one sister, Rita Williams of Rockwall, Texas.
