CARTHAGE - Funeral services for Beatrice Barnett Hayes, 91, of Carthage will be 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, at Hawthorn Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Allen Moore officiating. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hayes died Friday, Dec. 1, 2006, in Carthage. She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Galloway Community, Panola County, Texas. One of eight children of Joseph Edward and Rachael Irene Grubbs Barnett. She was reared and schooled in rural Galloway. On June 13, 1947, she married Gerald Jack Hayes and together they celebrated 45 years of marriage before his death in 1992. Mrs. Hayes was a 55-year member of Buncomb Freewill Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and loved her Lord and family. Survivors include her sons, Billy Carrington of Timpson and Ronnie Hayes of Buncomb; a daughter, Jackie Farmer of Buncomb; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law: Mel Williams of Carthage. Pallbearers will be Mark James Hicks, Chris Carrington, Joe Carrington, Billy DeWayne Carrington, Matthew Hicks and Steven Ritter.
