Richard Desha Boswell, 71, who has resided in Albany six years, died unexpectedly at 8:30 Tuesday morning at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. J. Dodson, with whom he made his home. He was seriously stricken Monday morning at 4 o'clock, and preparations were being made to take him to a hospital when he passed away. Mr. Boswell was born November 1, 1872, at Royce City, Texas. When a young man he went to Wyoming where he followed the ranching and farming business, later going to South dakota and then to Estancia, N.M. Coming to Albany, Mr. Boswell worked with the registered herd of the late W. J. Dodson, and after it sold, took care of the cattle for the purchaser, Blanton & Oates. He was an able cattleman, and served as foreman of ranches for many years, according to local ranchers. The Albany News Feb. 17, 1944 Transcribed by Saundra Nobles
