Bio

Passed away peacefully on Friday August 19, 2016 surrounded by loved ones. Ben was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. He attended the University of Texas and was employed in the paint and plate glass industry. He was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather. He is survived by his love, Shirley Couvillon-Powell, sons Mark and Greg Powell and their wives Debbie and Diane, six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and his sister Peggy Edwards. With a last great effort of love, he and his sons softly sang a favorite hymn together. Echoes of his wonderful singing voice, daily crooning remembered songs, will remain with us forever. As Christians, we have faith we shall be together again. Services will be held Friday, August 26, 2016, 1:15 p.m.at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX. 77038 with visitation and viewing beginning at 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Funeral Services, 10567 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas.
