Bio

"Daniel M. Stastny, 85 years, of Fremont, Nebraska died Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont. Daniel was born December 27, 1930 in Seward, Nebraska to John and Agnes (Hotovy) Stastny. He grew up in Dwight, Nebraska and graduated from Dwight Assumption Catholic School. He served in the US Navy from March 26, 1951 to March 17, 1955 during the Korean War. Daniel married Millie Klein October 15, 1955 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Bellwood, Nebraska. They moved to Fremont and Daniel worked for the Fremont Light Department for five years. He worked for Hormel’s from 1960 until retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont and Knights of Columbus Council #1497. He volunteered at St. Patrick’s and delivered Meals on Wheels. He loved to play golf, travel and participate in Navy ship reunions. Daniel was awarded the distinction of Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Nebraska, by the Governor. He is survived by wife, Millie; sons, Bob (Donna) Stastny of Omaha, Nebraska, Dave (Mary) Stastny of Fremont and Mark (Lori) Stastny of Omaha; daughters, Debbie (Marvin) Loecker of Olathe, Kansas and Carol (Lance) Stokes of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; brothers, Francis Stastny of Lincoln, Nebraska, Dennis (Arlene) Stastny of Bee, Nebraska and Leonard Stastny of Missoula, Montana; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Jack Stastny and Emmery Stastny; sisters, Bernice Voboril and Alma Stastny. Funeral Mass 10:00 A.M., Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father Eliot Schwer will officiate. Visitation on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with rosary at 7 PM at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial with Military Honors at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, Pathways to Compassion Hospice or St. Patrick’s Catholic Church." Moser Memorial Chapel, 2170 N. Somers Avenue, Fremont, Nebraska 68025.
