Jerome Paul Hahn, 74, passed away Friday, August 19, 2016, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.Jerry was born July 25, 1942, in Norfolk, NE, to Paul and Doris (Hansen) Hahn. He graduated from Creighton University and he married Marlene Laughlin in 1967. They made their home in Omaha until moving to Urbandale in 1978. Jerry worked for Allstate where he received many Key Manager Awards, taught insurance classes at AIB, and later owned and operated Home Maintenance Service for 25 years, retiring in 2014. Jerry enjoyed coaching his children's athletics, reading, woodworking, art, painting, helping others, and took great pride in caring for his home and yard. Spending time with his grandchildren was one of his greatest joys, which gave him an opportunity to watch the latest animated movies and eat Oreos (double-stuffed, not the thin ones).Jerry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marlene, his children, Lisa (Craig) Gard of Johnston, Jeff (Melissa Arcella) Hahn of Minneapolis, MN, Renee Hahn of West Des Moines, and Chris (Dawn Lesan) Hahn of Shakopee, MN; two sisters, Janet Coleman of Omaha, NE and Betty Cowles of Delaware Crossing, PA; three grandchildren, Megan, Justin and Natalie; four step-grandchildren, Rachel and Wade, Ashley and Aidan; and step-great-grandchild, Reagan.
