Steven William “Steve” Finley, 58, of Grand Island formerly of California, died on Monday, August 15, 2016. A private memorial service will be held at All Faiths Funeral Home. Steve was born October 23, 1957 in Ord to James and Elva Jean (Papiernik) Finley. Steve grew up in Ord and graduated from Ord High School, Class of 1976. Self-employed, Steve spent the majority of his adult life in California. Artistic and creative, Steve’s originality expressed itself in carpentry, making and refinishing furniture and interior design. Steve found beauty in many places. He loved life, people and animals. From a boy, Steve loved cars…especially Lincoln Continentals. Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Elva Jean Finley Shonka; brother, James E. Finley of Hastings; sisters, Linda (Mike) Follmer and Christine (Kurt) Bogus, all of Grand Island; special friend, Eva Thompson; many nieces and nephews and his favorite four-legged buddy, Saffron. He was preceded in death by his father; stepfather, Martin Shonka; paternal grandparents, George and Rose Finley; maternal grandparents, Steve and Barbara Papiernik; and infant nephew, Joseph Finley.
