SALAC, , EVELYN GLADYS FRNKA Was born April 5, 1920. She left this earth February 25 with her husband and loved ones by her side. She was preceded in death by her father Victor Frnka and mother Lydia Dusek Frnka. Evelyn graduated from Rosebud High School in 1938. She worked many minor jobs, including war defense work. After the war ended, she wanted a full time office job and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. hired her as a file clerk. She then advanced into increasing levels of responsibility in the company, and retired after 36 years of service. Her biggest interest was gardening and flowers. She also enjoyed doing secretarial work for a fraternal organization, the SPJST (Slovanik Benevolent Order of the State of Texas), for 25 years. Evelyn is survived by her husband of 67 years Adolph, their "kids" Cindy and Paul Pokladnik and two very special God children, Allison and Jordan Pokladnik. Other survivors are her brother Harvey "Bud" Frnka and his wife Joan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Reuben "Mike" Frnka. She was a member of St. Monica Church since the beginning of the church. She was a financial supporter of the St. Monica Catholic School endowment fund for many years, SPJST Lodge 84 and the Circle of Czech Women. Rosary will be held 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Hwy. Chapel. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Monica Catholic Church , 9933 Midway Road, Rev. John Hopka, Celebrant. Interment to follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers are Paul Pokladnik, Jordan Pokladnik, John Becan, James Frnka, Harry Frnka and Gregory Frnka.
